Principal EICA Engineer

Lead the Delivery of Critical Water Infrastructure Projects as a Principal EICA Engineer!

Our Client has a requirement for a Principal EICA Engineer, who will be required to work on a contract and permanent basis in the North of England.

Role Purpose:

• Provide technical leadership across major water and wastewater infrastructure projects.
• Lead the design and delivery of complex electrical engineering solutions.
• Support project bids, technical strategy and engineering excellence initiatives.
• Mentor and develop engineering teams.
• Deliver safe, innovative, compliant and cost-effective engineering solutions.
• Take ownership of electrical engineering activities throughout the project lifecycle.

Job Role Responsibilities:

• Lead and coordinate the delivery of complex electrical engineering designs.
• Provide technical leadership across multidisciplinary project teams.
• Develop innovative and practical engineering solutions.
• Ensure designs are safe, compliant, sustainable and cost-effective.
• Produce, review and approve calculations, specifications, reports and design documentation.
• Support major bids and project delivery strategies.
• Maintain engineering governance and quality assurance standards.
• Manage technical delivery balancing programme, cost, quality and resources.
• Identify and manage technical risks throughout project delivery.
• Collaborate with clients, contractors, suppliers and project teams.
• Mentor engineers and designers to support capability development.
• Promote continuous improvement, safety and engineering excellence.

Experience / Skills / Knowledge / Qualifications:
Essential

• Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering (BEng, MEng or equivalent).
• Significant experience delivering electrical engineering designs within the UK water and wastewater sector.
• Strong understanding of electrical systems associated with water and sewage treatment facilities.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary engineering design projects.
• Knowledge of LV and HV power distribution, motor control centres, standby generation, power systems and industrial installations.
• Ability to develop practical, efficient and economical engineering solutions.
• Good understanding of related disciplines including mechanical, civil, process engineering and project management.
• Strong appreciation of automation, control and instrumentation systems (EICA).
• Excellent technical judgement, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Ability to present technical proposals confidently to clients and stakeholders.
• Strong leadership skills with a commitment to quality, safety and project delivery.

Desirable

• Chartered Engineer (CEng) status.
• Experience as a technical reviewer, approver or signatory.
• Strong knowledge of relevant electrical standards and regulations, including BS 7671.
• Previous experience managing or mentoring engineering teams.
• Established professional network within the UK water sector.
• Experience of electrical design for treatment works, pumping stations and related infrastructure.
